Steven Krise is working on putting together some tools, documents, etc to help den leaders take part in the Year Of Celebration ribbon program. The attached files will assist Den Leaders in tracking achievements related to this program. 2010 - Year of Celebration Ribbons Template.xls - This is an empty table that dens can use to track their scouts' and leaders' progress on completing requirements for the 5 YOC ribbons Year of Celebration Summary.pdf - This is a one-page document giving a quick introduction to the YOC program as well as providing links to where you can find more information. YOC_Event_Matrix.xls - is a table cross-referencing various pack, district, council, and national scouting activities between June 2009 and December 2010 which complete (in part or in whole) requirements for the 5 YOC ribbons (when the Pack calendar is finalized thru Dec 2010 I will update the event matrix) See links below for the files.

Dear Pack 962 Scouts and Families, Welcome back to another jam packed year of scouting and fun with the Notorious 962! I hope your summer kept you busy and out of trouble. You're Scouts, after all! I'm delighted to see you back again, and amazed to say that we already have 8 new Tiger Cubs. I'd like to ask you older Scouts to keep your eye out for the new Tigers. Give them a smile and a hand when you can. Mrs. Hile is our new Tiger Leader. You can pick her out of the lineup by the bewildered look on her face, but it won't be long before she's running circles around us all. (Mrs. Hile, did I tell you about the pie?) We've got a lot to do this year. Tigers are going to earn their Bobcat badges straight away, and the Webelos II are headed towards their Arrow of Light. Everyone else is working on achievements and badges of rank. The best part is that we get there together, with songs, skits, and cheers along the way. Let's hear it for Pack 962! Yours in Scouting, Kris Consaul Cubmaster, Pack 962 |

Thanks to everyone who helped at the Pinewood Derby we had another hugely successful race. The boys all did a terrific job on their cars. But no matter how good all the cars are, there has to be a 1st place and a last place. It's difficult to watch your son not place in the top 3. Our gang is like the Wallace family - a long history of winning cars. This year it was not to be. For the first time in 8 years an O'Brien car did not place in the top 3 in their rank. At the race I was very disappointed. Colin looked devastated. I braced for the trouble to come...and by the time I got home he was over it. And more importantly, I think he learned a valuable lesson: he didn't put in the effort on his car that he should have and it showed in its performance. I bet he does better next year. A lesson for both father and son. Race results are attached to this article. Good luck to the District Derby racers!
